The hematology department of Beijing Ji Shui Tan hospital founded in 1956 is recognized as professional. In the early stage, Professor Yinshui Li, as the director, built her team with 3 doctors, and there were only 12 sickbeds. Our department is specialized in leukemia, multiple myeloma, idiopathic thrombocytopenia and anemia caused by multiple reasons.

In 1987, given advice by Professor Yang and Professor Debing Wang, the former secretary of the party committee and president of Beijing University, the hematology professional working group established a strategic and sustainable cooperation with Peking University of People’s Hospital, Peking University Institute of Hematology. The form of cooperation was reflected in ward rounds as well as teaching activities once a week.

In the second year , the hematology subspecialty of Beijing Ji Shui Tan hospital was established. Meanwhile, a series of advanced examine technologies had been carried out in the hematology center of Peking University People's Hospital, including leukemia immune flow cytometry, genetics and chromosome detection. Thanks to the two professors’ work, we two departments had started a long-term cooperation since then even closer. And also, the focus had been changed to experimental testing. As the consequences of the outstanding cooperation, our hematology department made a significant achievement in diagnosis and treatment of blood system disease, either common or difficult type.

In 2004, the hematology department expanded its ranks to 5 professional doctors, respectively are Professor Yinshui Li, whom also the director, and Doctor Xingguo Zuo, Yanxia Bai, Huayun Ye, and Yiguo Zhang. In addition to the expansion of personnel, the capacity of diagnoses and treatment of blood system disease had also been significantly enhanced during that time. The growth owed to the cooperation with Peking University People's Hospital. Moreover, combined the hospital’s orthopedics advantages, our department also established our own Advantage characteristic, the diagnoses and treatment of multiple myeloma,

Responding the demand of specialty Tier 3 first-class hospital, Beijing Ji Shui Tan hospital hematology department named officially in January 2005.

Professor Yanxia Bai was appointed as first section director, and kept on carrying out the departmental spirit of hardworking, cohesion, taking care of patients and developing technology. Meanwhile, she critical focused on staff construction, attracted talents with professional feature as well as achieved master's or doctoral degree of hematology. With her efforts, the department sickbeds increased to 14. Also, the department obtained a remarkable enhancement, which was the number of patients being diagnosed and treated was over 300 per year. Patients benefited from advanced targeted drugs by the remission rate promoted and the extended survival time. One after another, this department took part in the hematology department of Peking University and The Capital University of medical science, keeping enhancing the communication as well as mutual exchange study with other counterparts. The cooperation and improvement brought the department came to a better platform of academic and scientific research.

In January 2013, our department established the Hui long guan branch in Chang ping District in order to meet the needs of more in- patients and get medical environment improved. The new branch ward is composed with 32 sickbeds, including 29 ordinary beds and 3 transplant beds.

Our department undertakes many important assignments of Peking University Health Science Center for years, such as teaching five-year and eight-year clinical medical education, standardized residential training of doctors, taken part in a number of compilation of medical course book such as “physical diagnostics "and "internal medicine" and so on.

The cooperation and karma between Peking University People’s Hospital and us will never stop. Professor Li Bao, the former chief physician of Peking University of People’s Hospital, Peking University Institute of Hematology, was appointed as the latest department director under the support from hospital leadership and Peking University Institute of Hematology in June 2015. Today, the Hematology department of Beijing ji shui tan hospital is an energetic, high quality team including 2 chief physicians, 2 associate chief physicians, 3 attending and 4 residents. The aim of our department is “Patients are what matters”, and we bear the hospital motto “good faith, exquisite craft, delicate heart” in each mind.

Professor Bao is the former chief physician of Peking University institute of blood. She was appointed as the head of Hematology Department of Beijing ji shui tan hospital in June 2015. She majored in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma, Lymphoma, MDS, Leukemia and other blood system diseases.
